Custom Orthotics

WHAT ARE FOOT ORTHOTICS?

WHAT ARE FOOT ORTHOTICS?

We here at Caputo Foot and Ankle Center are proud of the quality of our Custom-made foot orthotics.  These biomedical shoe inserts support and gently reposition the heel, arch, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones in the feet.

Although we also provide top of the line Medical Grade Over-the-Counter inserts, we have found that the custom-made orthotics, created from state-of-the-art computer scans of your feet, are better designed to meet your specific needs. These devices are typically made with comfortable materials that are very durable, and they can be designed to fit in any good supportive shoe.

Custom-made orthotics have been shown to help alleviate and relieve pain caused by the following common foot conditions:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Flatfoot and Arch pain
  • Diabetes related Foot issues.
  • Bunions and Hammer toes
  • Morton’s Neuroma and Metatarsal pain
  • Corns & Calluses

HOW DO CUSTOM ORTHOTICS WORK?

Even the smallest misalignment in the foot can cause significant pain or discomfort. Misalignment in the foot usually causes foot conditions like bunions, corns, hammer toe, etc.

Orthotics function to not only support the arch, but also stabilize the structures of the foot, and help prevent bone malalignment, as well as tendon and ligament fatigue.  With every step, orthotics within the shoe gently direct the foot into the correct position so as to reduce pain and stop inflammation.

HOW ARE ORTHOTICS MADE?

Following a physical exam and diagnosis of the condition, we here at Caputo Foot and Ankle Center in Holmdel use a 3D scanner, not to be confused with standing force plates which are not 3D.  No longer using messy plaster molds or imprecise foam boxes, accurate foot imaging is done utilizing new Apple iPad 3D Scanner in less than a minute.
